Moderate rainfall is expected in many parts of Tamil Nadu.In Chennai, several suburbs including Avadi, Redhills and Tambaram received good showers over the last couple of days.The increase in thunderstorms has been a blessing to the state and has boosted its rainfall this season. Tamil Nadu, this year, has recorded 15 cm against the average of 14 cm for the season since June 1. The Meteorological Department forecast that Chennai may have a cloudy sky and rains or thundershowers may occur till Saturday.
Storms over many parts of Tamil Nadu are maintained by a trough running from Telangana to Comorin area across Rayalaseema and interior Tamil Nadu and another upper air cyclonic circulation over the Lakshadweep area. An increase in rainfall is expected on August 15 and August 16.
